Directed and co-written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, it walks us through the journey of an 11-year-old African American girl who staked her faith on barren land—and found oil.
Plot
Young Sarah Rector, portrayed by Naya Desir-Johnson, is allotted a patch of land in Oklahoma—seemingly worthless, until she trusts God that there’s treasure beneath it. When oil is indeed discovered, greedy oil speculators want her property. Amid growing pressure, Sarah leans on her faith, her family, friends, and even some Texas adventurers to stand firm. In a remarkable twist, she becomes one of America’s first female African American millionaires, before her twelfth birthday.
