Zoë Announced as Headliner for Zeitz MOCAA Gala 2026
The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) has announced that Zoë Modiga will be the headlining performer for its upcoming annual Gala in 2026. The announcement was made on December 12, 2025, and sets the stage for an evening of excellence.

The Zeitz MOCAA Gala is an important event on Cape Town’s art calendar. As the museum’s primary annual fundraiser, the Gala will secure resources to advance Zeitz MOCAA’s core mission: to exhibit, collect, preserve, and research contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora. Proceeds directly benefit the museum’s vital curatorial and education programming, ensuring the institution continues to nurture a vibrant artistic ecosystem.
The 2026 Gala is very significant, as it is dedicated to honour the life and legacy of the museum’s late Executive Director and Chief Curator, Koyo Kouoh. The event aims to embody the values she championed: cultural agency, and radical care. . The Gala will also honour Abdoulaye Konaté, Dr. Anita Blanchard, Martin Nesbitt, and Albie Sachs for their contributions to art, philanthropy, and vision.

Modiga has deep knowledge about classical music, and jazz, giving her a technical depth. She is a great live performer, known for an evocative individualism that extends to her stage fashion and imagery. Her discography, including albums like Yellow: The Novel and Inganekwane, released under her independent label Yelloëwax, is celebrated for being rooted in Afro-realism while pushing the boundaries of global sound. Her work usually contains Zulu lyrics and embraces the Black diaspora.

The Gala will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, and is more than just an award ceremony . The evening features art installations, curated decorations, and a vibrant showcase of contemporary African creativity.
Furthermore, the Gala is preceded by some exclusive events that ticket holders will enjoy. The Gala week will focus on cultural and intellectual exchange, attracting art professionals around the world.
Modiga’s performance is about culture that the museum wants to promote. Her presence is about a night where artistic talent meets collective philanthropy, in a bid to broaden engagement with contemporary.

Shannon Benting Set to Compete at Miss Supranational 2026 in Poland
Shannon Benting will represent South Africa at the Miss Supranational 2026 pageant after winning the South Africa edition. She will compete with 69 women from different countries. The event will take place on 31 July in Nowy Sącz, Poland. Where she will aim to succeed reigning Miss Supranational Eduarda Braum.
Benting earned the opportunity to represent South Africa after winning the Miss Supranational South Africa title through the Miss African Beauty South Africa competition.

The Gauteng-based model and content creator has built a career in modelling and digital media while also leading community initiatives..
Her project Beauty in Action supports youth and women in different skills. Benting knows the importance of creating opportunities for young women and supporting positive change.

Benting said representing her country at Miss Supranational is an honour.
“Representing South Africa at Miss Supranational 2026 is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life” She said.
“I have worked hard, dreamed big and stayed grounded in my purpose, and this feels like confirmation that showing up with authenticity and intention truly matters.”

South Africa has already tasted victory at Miss Supranational, with Lalela Mswane’s 2022 win becoming one of the country’s most memorable pageant achievements. Some segments that contestants will pass through include attitude, elegance evaluation, confidence and job interview. This pageant is part of the annual Festival of Beauty events.
As the July finale approaches, attention will turn to Benting’s preparation and performance on the international stage. Her participation adds another chapter to South Africa’s involvement in one of the world’s major pageant competitions.

Qhawekazi Mazaleni and Luyanda Zuma will host the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards in South Africa. According to reports, the awards ceremony is scheduled for April 25, 2026, at the Durban International Convention Centre. The event will bring together popular artists such as Big Zulu, Big Nuz, Mthandeni, DJ Sox, Mafikizolo, Babalwa M, Khuzani, LKG, and Simm.
Qhawekazi Mazaleni, who won the Miss South Africa 2025, will present the Song of the Year award. Mazaleni is among a new breed of women who many young South Africans look up to
