Shekhinah Drops House EP Love On Repeat Vol. 1
South African singer and songwriter Shekhinah has returned with a fresh musical direction on her latest project, Love On Repeat Vol. 1, a house-inspired EP that places her distinctive vocals at the centre of a collection built for both intimate listening and the dance floor.
Released in early June 2026, the project sees Shekhinah embracing Afro-house and deep house influences while maintaining the emotional honesty that has defined her music since her breakthrough years. The EP arrives as one of the most notable shifts in her catalogue, moving beyond contemporary R&B and pop into a space where rhythmic production and heartfelt storytelling work together.

Shekhinah – Instagram
Rather than chasing trends, Love On Repeat Vol. 1 feels like a natural evolution for an artist who has consistently explored different dimensions of love, relationships and self-discovery. The project blends warm house grooves, layered percussion and melodic arrangements with Shekhinah’s unmistakable vocal delivery, creating a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
One of the standout aspects of the EP is its collaborative spirit. Among the tracks generating attention is “My Baby,” which features contributions from Brandon Dhludhlu and Fatso 98. The song highlights the project’s balance between soulful songwriting and club-ready production, offering listeners a glimpse into the sonic direction that shapes the entire release.

The EP also includes “Your Love,” a collaboration with Simmy, another artist known for blending soulful vocals with electronic and Afro-house influences. The pairing brings together two distinctive voices that have helped shape South Africa’s contemporary music landscape, adding further depth to the project’s exploration of romance and connection.
What makes Love On Repeat Vol. 1 particularly compelling is how it captures different shades of love without relying on predictable formulas. Across the project, Shekhinah explores attraction, devotion, longing and emotional vulnerability, all while allowing the production to maintain a steady sense of movement. The result is music that can accompany a late-night drive, a quiet moment of reflection or a packed dance floor with equal ease.
The release also reflects the growing influence of house music within mainstream South African music. While the country has long been recognised as a global force in house and electronic music, more artists from outside the traditional dance music scene are finding new ways to engage with the genre. Shekhinah’s latest project demonstrates how seamlessly strong songwriting can coexist with sophisticated house production.

For longtime fans, Love On Repeat Vol. 1 offers a chance to hear a different side of the singer without losing the qualities that made her one of South Africa’s most respected voices. For newer listeners, it serves as an accessible entry point into an artist willing to take creative risks while remaining true to her artistic identity.
With this release, Shekhinah expands her musical range and opens the door to new possibilities. If Love On Repeat Vol. 1 is any indication, this chapter could mark the beginning of an exciting new era for one of South Africa’s most versatile artists.
