Cardi B Defends Tyla Against Online Hate

Published

on

The music world’s full of drama, but it’s inspiring when artists uplift each other. Recently, Cardi B took a bold stand for South African sensation Tyla, who’s been facing a wave of harsh online criticism. With her signature honesty and fire, Cardi made it clear: Tyla earned her reputation, therefore no hate is allowed.

Background of the Story

Tyla has soared quickly: from Johannesburg talent to international Grammy winner, notably with her breakout hit “Water.” But with fame came a wave of negative comments. Critics dismissed her as “overhyped,” “manufactured,” and “just a TikTok artist,” saying one hit doesn’t make a star.

After winning her Grammy, the backlash intensified. Some comments called her performance “basic” and insinuated her rise was fueled more by trends than talent. Across X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, trolls piled on, making it tough for Tyla to stay above the noise.

Cardi B Support

When Cardi B noticed the barrage, she didn’t hold back. During a livestream, she vented her frustration:

“People been dragging the shit out of Tyla and it’s, like, the girl don’t even fucking address or talk about nothing.”

She continued, with annoyance:

“I am starting to feel people don’t like celebrities. The only way they like celebrities is if you don’t say nothing at all. They beat your energy, they beat your confidence and they beat you to the ground. To be honest I don’t know the hate about it because I don’t really get the hate at all… “

“All I know is that every time I scroll down on my TikTok, there’s a video of her and people talking shit. And it’s like, goddamn, what do you want her to fucking do, cut her fucking veins?”

Cardi’s message was clear: Enough is enough.

Fan Reactions

Fans were quick to amplify Cardi’s defense and show their support for Tyla.

One X user wrote fervently:

“Cardi B defends TYLA. As she should!!”

Elsewhere, fans flooded social media with messages of solidarity, urging haters to let Tyla shine.

Tyla’s Graceful Response

Tyla herself chose calmness over confrontation. She did not engage directly with detractors but continued to focus on her art and her humanity.

On a different note, Tyla has also shown she won’t let murky cultural misunderstandings define her. Discussing her identity—particularly her use of the term “colored”, she told British Vogue:

“I don’t expect to be identified as coloured outside of [South Africa]… But to close this conversation, I’m both coloured in South Africa and a black woman… I know who I am.”

Her words highlighted a deeper journey: remaining true to herself while navigating global perceptions. With dignity and clarity, she continues to rise above misunderstanding and remain focused on her craft.

Conclusion

Cardi B’s defense shows that solidarity matters in the entertainment industry. Her message sent a strong message to Tyla haters. While social media remains an important tool, using it to bring down stars shouldn’t be encouraged. Tyla has made a name for herself in the entertainment scene, with allies like Cardi B, her future can only get better. This kind of support is comforting and shows that nothing can stop Tyla from remaining in the spotlight for years to come.
