Brandy Gets Her Flowers with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Brandy Norwood  received a Star on March 30, 2026. She is the 2,839th recipient of the award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her Star was awarded in the Recording category.

Billboard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame organisation confirmed the significance of the recognition within the music industry. During the ceremony, Brandy delivered an emotional speech about her musical journey. She described the honour as a symbol of perseverance and longevity

“This honor reflects the greats. It means you made it in a way that stands the test of time,” she said. “So to every person who saw something in me before the world did, to every hand that reached for me when I was still reaching for myself, to every room that made space for me, and even the ones that didn’t, thank you,”

The ceremony featured tributes from celebrities including actress and creator Issa Rae and legendary producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.They emphasized her impact in contemporary R&B and the opportunities she provided for Black women in entertainment.

Issa Rae said:

“The most inspirational part of her career is just how she had no lanes. As her career progressed, so did her ambitions. To me, Brandy was and is the blueprint.”

Babyface remarked that:

“You give one of the best feelings I’ve ever heard. The soul that’s in your voice; the way you move your voice; you’re like an athlete. No one can do it the way you do it.”

Brandy gained widespread popularity in the 1990s due to her unique way of singing, which led to her being referred to as “The Vocal Bible.” Her singing style is often described as conversational, with a warm mid-range supported by an airy tone and a light sound.

She achieved commercial success with songs such as “I Wanna Be Down” and “Baby.” Her duet with Monica, “The Boy Is Mine,” earned a Grammy Award and became one of her most recognized records. Brandy also expanded into acting, playing the lead role in the television sitcom Moesha.
