Business personality Brown Mogotsi says he survived an attempted assassination in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, on November 3, 2025. In posts made shortly after the incident, he described the attack as deliberate and aimed at killing him, not warning him.

The claim circulated quickly online and drew a response from radio host and commentator DJ Warras (Warrick Stock). Rather than dismissing Mogotsi outright, Warras questioned the absence of supporting details and referenced the 2023 petrol-bombing of community activist Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini’s Pimville home. At the time, that case also generated strong public reaction before any verified information or investigative conclusions were released.

Warras focused on the need for documentation, such as police reports, medical evidence, scene details, or eyewitness confirmations, before the situation is accepted as factual in the public domain. His response emphasized that high-profile claims should be supported by verifiable information, especially when they involve threats to life.

As of now, no formal police statement has been issued regarding Mogotsi’s account. Mogotsi has said he will release further details once investigations “have been properly handled.”

In recent years, several public figures in South Africa have made statements about threats or attacks on social media before law enforcement agencies release confirmations. These announcements often shape public perception before verified facts are available. In this situation, the lack of independent evidence places Mogotsi’s account in a provisional space: it is acknowledged publicly but not yet substantiated. Any further clarity will depend on what information is made available through official channels.

For now, Mogotsi maintains his claim. Warras maintains that verification must precede narrative. The matter remains unconfirmed pending formal evidence.
